An avant-garde dress that represents a society between uncertainty, fear, isolation, and aggression. A dress over multiple crises and the simultaneity of events. About escalation and division, the looming “Next-Big-Thing,” and the end of illusions.

Since at least 2020, we have been experiencing a profound transformation of our world, marked by uncertainty, fear, and anger. These collective emotions have become entrenched in our social life and manifest in many different ways. They lead to isolation and aggression, and at the same time, we are witnessing an escalation of tensions, culminating in divisions within our society. Our 2020 dress captures this complex and somber reality, standing as a symbol for the state of our society.

The challenges we have faced since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic are so numerous we could hardly list them all. The global health crisis has not only shaken our confidence in the stability and reliability of our lives but also exposed systemic weaknesses that had long been hidden. The health threat was accompanied by a profound economic downturn, leaving its mark in unemployment, financial insecurity, and an ever-widening gap between rich and poor.

In a society already groaning under the strain of social inequalities, these crises have exacerbated existing problems. Social tensions have increased, and the sense of solidarity that prevailed at the beginning of the pandemic has given way to an atmosphere of mistrust and hostility. Masks have become symbols of political allegiance.

But it is not only the immediate health and economic crises that challenge our resilience. Simultaneously, we are experiencing a climate crisis of unprecedented magnitude, whose devastating effects are becoming increasingly undeniable. Wildfires in California, floods in Europe, and heatwaves in Asia – natural disasters are piling up, and we are frozen in fear like a rabbit before a snake. The fear of the next natural event that could upheave our lives is pervasive.

The silence screams so loud

In addition to the visible catastrophes, there is a seemingly silent crisis that often only registers as a footnote in public discourse: the mental health crisis. Isolation, uncertainty, and the constant threat of new crises are taking their toll. Many people are increasingly exhausted and overwhelmed, with emotional and psychological wounds often remaining invisible. This isolation and sense of helplessness can spiral into an emotional vortex, leading to aggression and escalation. Around the world, we are witnessing a rise in violence, whether in the form of urban riots, domestic violence, political radicalization, or wars.

In an era so deeply marked by uncertainty and fear, traditional notions and illusions are also being questioned. The idea of continuous progress and growing prosperity is increasingly challenged. Trust in democratic institutions and the media, once pillars of our society, is eroding. Populism and extremism are gaining ground, and the chasm between different social groups is widening.

The thorn within us

These multiple crises, the simultaneous events that destabilize our stability over and over, challenge our endurance and adaptability. In the avant-garde dress, we have attempted to capture these realities with all their complex emotions and challenges. The dark material reveals the thorns embedded within us, the brokenness and fragmentation. We are chalk white.

These are our feelings that we express through the dress.

Very Helpful with dry mouth due to Autoimmune illnesses
Size: 1 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I have an illness that causes very dry mouth and nothing seems to work even a $65.00 prescription that was recommended. My hygienist suggested I try Salivea, so I got the spray. I can honestly say nothing has work quite like this. It's only been a few days but I also bought the toothpaste and mouthwash. I'm highly impressed so thank you Loretta for recommending

Size: 1 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Following throat radiation I had dry mouth. The dentist recommended Salivea. I apply it right before I go to bed. It worked well. This is the 2nd tube I have purchased.

Love it!
Format: Hardcover
I tell you what, I have been researching for months for the perfect Ethiopian Bible for myself. I have a kindle version of a different one, and it crashes my kindle. So on to hunt for the perfect hard copy. Took me forever y’all. Similar to how there’s other translations of Bibles, it seemed not all wording was the same for every Ethiopian Bible I looked into. Nothing major, just little touches here and there. Some wording was bland and couldn’t hold my attention because it was dry, and some the print was soooo tiny, etc. I wanted some flair. My kindle version had it, but there wasn’t a hard copy of it. And then I found this one. The wording is beautiful. It’s got flair. It’s flowery without being excessive. It’s very descriptive in a way that stirs my soul. I was looking for that in the English version. This has an almost whimsical vibe but not in a Disney way. I’m not sure I can wholly express myself here. This Bible is simply absolutely stunning. The verbiage is beautiful, without pushing the boundary into frufru. It’s honest yet descriptive. It blooms without needless extra junk. It sticks to the truth while being almost poetry. I really don’t know how to describe it. I just know I read a sample of it on the kindle version and it really spoke to me. Genesis 1:1 was all I needed to see to know this was what I’d been searching for. I’m really glad I chose this one. So the writing style: I firmly believe the writer was touched by God during this process. I already said I loved the style. But for most of us, that’s how we choose a translation. It’s one we can easily read, and one that keeps us interested. And this one just ignited me. It’s perfect. This is a true blessing to read. The artwork is beautiful. They are in the pencil drawing style. I like the lack of color. The facial expressions are so good too. I don’t know if they were hand drawn and replicated, or if it’s AI. Either way the art is chefs kiss. The font you guys! I can read this as a hard copy. I also bought a magnifier, but returned it. Granted, I do have a new pair of bifocals, but this font size is manageable and better than other books. Any smaller and it would be too small for me to read though, so it’s not a large print. I usually prefer kindle so I can adjust the font and it’s portable. This font is on par with a few other hard copy Bibles I have, so it’s doable. The size of the Bible is considered 2xl. So I was able to find a Bible book cover for it. I’m just not sure my Bible tabs will still allow it to fit Bible tabs. I haven’t put them on because I mentioned above they might not fit in the Bible cover. So I’m gonna have to make a compromise somewhere. But that really doesn’t have to do with the book though huh. I wish this Bible came with the thumb indention at the start of the chapters. It would be helpful because there’s also nothing at the top of the page to tell you where you’re at. And there’s no included ribbon page markers. I feel that if I’m gonna stick to the idea of wanting to use my tabs, I’ll have to switch to a Bible bag instead of a zippered cover. Yes, the inside of the Bible matters more than the outside of it, but I still want a cute unakward way to carry it. I like that this is hardback. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel. But this Bible is pretty big. I feel a softback cover would bend too much while you’re trying to read, and it would be unwieldy. I plan on dragging this around with me to church and can appreciate its sturdiness. Now this physical copy has 88 books in it. A Protestant Bible has the traditional 66. This has an extra 22 chapters in it. So carrying it is manageable. Again, it’s big, but portable. Then mine has an additional 713 books available digitally. So the digital content is neat. There’s a menu of all the extra available content. There’s daily rewards, chats, audio and video options, and a forum. It’s not an app though. So it has you start on a webpage. From there I was able to send it to my Home Screen, and just pretend it’s an app. But it not being an app isn’t a dealbreaker. And I do not know if you buy the kindle version, if all the extra content is on kindle or still the webpage. Also, they are quick to respond to everyone. My only concern though, is that it says my digital content is only available for a year. This is a lot of content and I’m not sure I’ll finish it in a year. I don’t know what happens after the year, to be able to keep reading. I’ll have to ask them because it’s quite extensive content and I want to see it all. I’ve been struggling lately. I need some Jesus on my life. I wanted a Bible to connect with, that makes reading it enjoyable. I have no doubt this book is going to be a major component in helping me return to the light. Thank you Edward Jones and team. This will truly change so many lives. I originally received the one containing only 500 something books. Getting it replaced with the 801 books version was easy peasy. I love a smooth resolution.
