It was reworked and modernized around the 1970s, with a zipper added in the back, making it easier to wear. Because of the empire waist, this can also be an incredible vintage

This romantic vintage red velvet dress was custom-made in the late 1930s (possibly early 1940s), and is entirely one-of-a-kind. The maxi-length crushed red velvet is so rich. It features a gathered empire waist, with long tailored sleeves that come to a point at the cuff. It was reworked and modernized around the 1970s, with a zipper added in the back, making it easier to wear. Because of the empire waist, this can also be an incredible vintage maternity dress. Closes in the back with a zipper.

The Antique Victorian Heart Locket pictured is also available. 

Measurements: This will best fit a size X-Small, Small and possibly Medium; please refer to below measurements. It is smaller through the shoulders and chest, with more flexibility through the waist and hips.
Chest: 37"
Empire waist/underbust: about 29", gathering offers some forgiveness there
Hips are open up to 45"
Length: 53"


Good vintage condition overall; there were some repairs made to the fabric at the bottom skirt towards hem. I ordered both the light gray and black vests in Large. Each one was delivered separately, not sure why, but a day or to late on one was no big deal. I got the gray vest on time. Label reads "COOFANDY." Fits perfectly. The black vest arrived late. Label reads "PAUL JONES Since 1958." Vest was too small. A different material was used on the back section of the vest, which is common, but not what I wanted. The gray vest was constructed of the same material used on the front. I'm not sure if this was a packing error or what, but I returned the black vest for a refund. The verdict: Great, well-constructed, true fit vest with the COOFANDY label. Not so well-constructed (a couple of the button holes had loose threads), small fit vest with the PAUL JONES label. Be sure to check that label. Five stars for the COOFANDY minus two stars for the goofed-up quality control of the seller.
