Get ready to have the incredible Miniature Pine Tree, also known as Crassula tetragona, a vibrant member of the Crassula genus! Just take a look at its needle-like leaves and shrubby appearance that earned it the nickname Miniature Pine Tree succulent. But hold up - despite its nickname, this isn't actually a pine tree at all; it's a succulent!

Hailing all the way from southern Africa, this unique-looking dwarf pine tree is truly one-of-a-kind. Bonsai enthusiasts cannot resist its charm and it's not hard to see why! The leaves of the Crassula tetragona plant are tiny plants sparsely branched with a woody, brown bark that adds an extra touch of pine tree-like illusion.

At full maturity, this fabulous Crassula tetragona can reach just over 3 feet tall. When blooming it produces creamy white star-shaped flowers that burst forth from dense clusters at the tips of their branches during late spring or early summer, creating an enchanting floral display that will leave you breathless.

The Crassula teteragona stems grow into mini pine tree succulents and shed their lower leaves but fear not - pruning and transplanting are no problem for this adaptable wonder! Crassula tetragona propagation can be done from leaf cuttings and stem cuttings, but leaf propagation is the easiest and most effective way to propagate this mini pine tree.

Watering Needs

These dwarf pine tree succulents are low-maintenance succulent plants that require minimal watering. It is best to water this Crassula tetragona when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot, so it is essential to allow the soil to dry out before watering again. During the summer months, succulents may require more frequent watering, but it is important to avoid waterlogging the soil.

If you live in a humid climate, you should water your succulent less frequently, even once every 10 days. To determine when to water your mini pine tree, pay close attention to how it looks; shriveling is a sign that you must water this beauty. Just make sure not to overdo it on baby plants and let them sit in standing water or else they could develop root rot.

Light Requirements

The Crassula tetragona requires bright, indirect sunlight to thrive. If you are growing plants indoors, it's best to place this miniature pine tree near a south-facing window that receives plenty of natural light but avoids exposing it to direct sunlight for extended periods. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves and cause damage to the baby succulent.

If you notice that your Crassula is not getting enough bright light, it may start to stretch and become leggy. This is a sign that it is not receiving enough light and is reaching out in search of more light to thrive. To prevent this, move it to a brighter location or supplement its light with a grow light.

It's critical to remember that during a heatwave or periods of extreme heat, your dwarf succulent trees could still sustain sun damage or get sunburned. You can protect these succulents in this situation by moving them indoors or to a shaded area.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizer Needs

The dwarf pine tree plant prefers well-drained potting soil that is rich in nutrients. A good potting mix for soil Crassula dwarf pine tree should include a combination of coarse sand, perlite, and peat moss. Planet Desert specializes in succulents and has specialized succulent potting soil that includes an organic substrate with mycorrhizae to help with the growth of a healthy root system to help your succulents thrive. It is important to avoid using heavy, clay soils that retain too much moisture.

When it comes to fertilizing the Crassula tetragona, it is best to use a balanced, natural fertilizer during the growing season. Fertilize the miniature pine trees once a year during the spring with an equal mix of NPK (5-10-5). Avoid over-fertilizing it, as this can cause salt buildup in the soil and lead to root damage. Overall, using well-draining soil and providing the well propagate Crassula tetragona plant with regular, balanced fertilization can help ensure its health and growth.

Hardiness Zones & More

The Crassula tetragona mini pine tree is hardy in USDA zones 10-11. This means that it can only tolerate temperatures down to around 30-35°F, and is best suited for warm, tropical climates. If you live in a colder climate, it is best to keep these dwarf pine trees indoors during the winter months or provide them with some protection from the cold.

In terms of humidity, the dwarf pine tree succulent prefers a dry environment with low to moderate humidity levels. It can tolerate some humidity, but it is important to avoid overwatering the plant or exposing it to excessively humid conditions. If you live in a humid environment, it is best to provide good airflow around this miniature pine tree to prevent moisture buildup on the leaves and stems.

Great find!!
Color: White Rose Velvet, Color: White Rose Velvet
This thing rocks. I hope it lasts longer than my last gaming chair bc it was double the price. It arrived days earlier than estimated, is soft, comfortable, and really pretty. I did not love the instructions, but I figured out assembly without too much trouble. It reclines without falling over and goes up and down smoothly. My cats immediately love it, so I’m really happy! Let’s hope it withstands longevity.

Great and comfy
Color: White
This is genuinely such a good chair and super comfy, the assembly was a little confusing at first but it’s very simple once you get started. I’m 5’2 and it’s nice and big, you can sit however you want and although it is expensive I do think it’s worth it. You can fully recline down to sleep if you wanted as well. It’s nicely designed and sturdy. Definitely get it if you are thinking about it!!

LIFE-CHANGING. The only chair you'll ever want or need.
Color: Black
So... This chair has absolutely changed my life. I don't often leave reviews, but this is WORTH IT. I want one in every room in my home. Just as the other reviewer with the 'life-changing chair' title to their review: I've had 100% the same experience - especially as someone who sits 3,000 different ways w/ ADHD lol. So, in addition to agreeing with all those comments... I'll just add a few more thoughts here to further convince you: - I received the Cream/Teddy one as a Christmas gift and have literally have looked forward to sitting it in for work every. single. morning. for work. - I *ALSO* purchased a second one in the black velvet one to gift to my partner and his experience has also been 'life-changing.' (The black velvet is definitely sleeker looking, almost a teeny slippery, but just beautiful fabric. Love it. A note here: the fabric came with a crease, which steamed out no problem.) - I sit and edit websites and photo/video everyday, all day, for work, and I also spend a good chunk of my time gaming with my partner. (Now we are *both* very comfortable for those longer 5+ hour sessions.) - Previously I had tried the viral criss-cross chair and while it was cute and great at first, it just didn't hold up and started causing numb spots on my lower back after ~2 hours. Not an all-day chair at all. This one has solved all back issues for me! Size: definitely big & the back is quite a tall height but it makes you feel cozy, supported, *and* you can lean back, recline, adjust every little bit you like, have space for a velcro cat, sit criss-cross or 3,000 other ways as a ADHDr trying to sit all day, lol, etc. -- all things I was looking for in an upgrade. For reference, it fits someone 5'5" to 6"5" just as comfortably. I'd say it feels on the bigger side for someone under 6 foot, but personally, I love that. It's like a real adult chair - much needed if you sit for 6+ hours a day. Leg rest: Easy to flip out, I love using this so you can sit cross cross AND lean back, or just as extra 'accommodate the cat' space. Noise level: the arms clicking down/adjusting is loud, but I don't find myself adjusting them all that often. Especially when my cat claims this chair first, anticipating the start of our work day. Comfort level: 100% and 2.5-3 months in, it's still going strong and I'm more obsessed each day. *To the store: THANK YOU for making this chair, please never stop. *To the person reading this review: BUY IT. Let this be the review to convince you - your cat will take over the chair and you'll have to fight over it, it's that comfy. I mean, they know best, do they not?

Beautiful sturdy, cozy chair, BUT…..
Color: White, Color: White
Updated review. I was so excited to get this chair that I jumped the gun and wrote the review prior to spending more time seated. I only have one issue, which is the back bottom of the seat cushion. That’s a big deal. It appears so thick, fluffy and inviting, however, when I sat in it for a couple of hours it completely went flat in the back feeling like I was sitting on a board. I’m 5’4” 180 lbs, which means my feet don’t touch the floor so adding a cushion will elevate me a little more. I’m OK with that but it’s going to ruin aesthetic of the chair which is which is not ok. I do love the idea of this chair. It’s design and the color. I wish the seat cushion had a zipper, which would eliminate my issue. I’d say if you’re someone who has to spend a lot of hours in this chair, you probably won’t like it. I do like the reclining back and the foot rest. It is comfortable to lay back but that doesn’t change the issue in the back bottom of the seat cushion. I absolutely love this chair, I didn’t want to get up. It’s beautiful and cozy. Assembly was easy as I’ve assembled chairs before. I changed the wheels to a double roller blade easy on hard wood floors. I also scotch guarded the entire chair. This chair is sturdy and well made.
