 String of Tears

  • Scientific name: Senecio herreanus (also sometimes listed as Curio herreanus)
  • Common names: String of Tears, String of Watermelons, String of Beads

It’s closely related to the String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) and the String of Bananas (Senecio radicans), all members of the Asteraceae (daisy) family.

🌿 Appearance

  • Leaves: The leaves are small, plump, and teardrop-shaped — hence the name “String of Tears.”
    • Each leaf has a translucent line (called an epidermal window) that helps the plant absorb more light for photosynthesis.
  • Stems: Long, trailing vines that can grow several feet, making it a great hanging plant.
  • Color: Usually green to bluish-green, sometimes with purple-tinged stems under bright light.

🌞 Light & Temperature

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate some direct morning sun but too much harsh sunlight can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Prefers warm conditions (65–80°F / 18–27°C). Protect from frost.

💧 Watering

  • Drought tolerant. Let the soil dry completely between waterings.
  • Overwatering is the most common cause of death — the leaves will become mushy and translucent if too wet.
  • Use the “soak and dry” method: water thoroughly, then let excess drain away.

🌸 Flowers

  • Small white blooms with a cinnamon-like fragrance, appearing mostly in late winter or spring if the plant is healthy and gets enough light.

🪴 Soil & Potting

  • Use a well-draining succulent/cactus mix.
  • A pot with drainage holes is essential to prevent root rot.

🌿 Propagation

  • Very easy to propagate from stem cuttings:
    1. Take a 3–4 inch cutting.
    2. Let it dry for a day to callous over.
    3. Place in moist, well-draining soil or water until roots form.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.
