Chestnuts were once a crucial staple crop in many parts of North America, Europe, and Asia, and they are enjoying a resurgence. Nuts can be roasted, boiled, or dried and milled into a flour. Chestnut trees are low-maintenance, productive, and tolerant of drought and sandy/rocky soils. Spiky shells deter squirrels from getting to nuts before you do.

This is a seedling from an orchard growing primarily grafted cultivars of European/Japanese crosses, with some pure European trees. That means the genetics of these trees are most likely a mix of European (Castanea sativa) and Japanese chestnut (Castanea crenata) (ExJ). We roasted and ate the nuts that we didn't plant, and they were delicious and easy to peel!

While Chinese chestnuts (Castanea mollissima) are grown in many areas of North America, they don't do well in the cooler summers of the Pacific Northwest, and we wouldn't recommend them for this region.

Planting: Chestnuts prefer well-drained, slightly acidic, sandy loam soil. They are intolerant of clay or wet soils. They are wind-pollinated so they require at least two to make nuts. Planting several in the same area helps to ensure adequate pollination. Requires watering for the first few years while they're getting established. Best planted when dormant (Nov-Mar) but can be planted later in spring.

Why seedlings? Growing seedlings from orchard cultivars helps maintain diversity (each seed is a new variety) while drawing on some of the best genetics for chestnuts in our bioregion. In other words, by planting and growing out these trees, you are participating in the breeding new, regionally-adapted chestnut varieties! The parents of these seedlings were selected for good production, large nuts, sweetness, precocity (producing nuts early in life), minimal cracking, and minimal pellicle intrusion (easy peeling). This means they are excellent stock for breeding new varieties of high-quality chestnuts. We recommend planting several of these trees closer together and selecting your final tree once they've produced their first nuts (3-5 years) so that you can select the most productive trees with the highest-quality nuts. Recommended final spacing is ~25' between the centre of each tree.

Why potted? If you won't be planting your trees right away and you don't feel sure about storing bare root trees then you want potted trees.  Potted trees will allow you more flexibility with transplanting timelines and late spring installations, however, they are more expensive to produce and to ship.

Our nuts are grown in tree pots, which are designed with a large opening at the bottom to air prune the root. When the taproot reaches the bottom, instead of circling around, the opening enables the root to gently 'self-prune' itself, stimulating the growth of feeder roots further up.

Amazing!
Color: Mermaid
I bought this for my musical Seussical and for everyday use. I was very impressed by the quality it was so easy to put on and it washed right off. This is the perfect glitter! I tested it on my arm face and hair it and my 2 only problems are that the color is not what it looks in the picture I got the mermaid color thinking it would have more pink but it does not have much pink in it when you put it on it appears more blue and green. The other thing is for those who got this for their hair be ware the glitter will fall off I didn’t get to give it a great chance on my hair but I think it’s not terrible you just need to give it more time to dry than I did or whenever you move you’re head glitter will come off. Overall I think this is an amazing product and I am definitely considering trying other colors.

Pretty and easy to use/wash off
Color: Sparkling Pink
Pretttyyy! It washes off easily when you want it to, so there’s no worries with it feeling “permanent.” It does rub off too but with excessive rubbing. It’s a pretty color that’s holographic-like. We love it for sparkly cheeks!

Great Body Glitter
Color: Sparkling Pink
The main colors of this holo glitter are purple, blue, and silver. It worked perfectly for my outfit, and I honestly had no complaints. When it comes to glitter, there’s nothing you can do to prevent it from getting everywhere, so I don’t hold that against the product at all. It sheds like normal but this literally stayed on after I wore it all day/night at a concert while sweating in 90-100°F heat the whole time; it lasts great. It also washed off super easy with some warm water and soap, which was such a relief. The gel/liquid itself is incredibly easy to apply, as it is pretty thin and dries quickly (maybe 3-5 minutes for total dryness I think?). You have to shake the bottle a bit to get the glitter spread out, but it rolls on easily. It sparkles great as well.

Cheap body glitter if that is what you are looking for
Color: Laser Green
The container broke so be careful!!! Also, the glitter doesn’t really roll on that well and kept getting clumped into the sides of the roller. If you are looking for cheap body glitter this is it!! Otherwise, it lasts all day and washes off easily

Great Product
Size: 48" One Size Fits Most, Color: Black
I like these. Quick on/off, can be used as a gentle leader, also. I don't like the leash clipped onto the collar because if the clip breaks - they are plastic and rot over time - then your dog is gone, possible dead because, after all, dogs have no sense of running in front of a 3,000 pound vehicle.
