Jovibarba sobolifera is a hardy, mat-forming succulent treasured for its charming rosettes and fascinating growth habits. Belonging to the Crassulaceae family, this plant is native to the mountainous regions of southeastern Europe, including the Alps, Carpathians, and Balkans. It thrives in well-draining, sandy soils and is well-suited for rock gardens, borders, crevice gardens, and containers. Its natural adaptability makes it an excellent choice for Mediterranean and drought-prone climates.

This perennial succulent forms compact rosettes of lime-green to yellow leaves that often develop striking red tips, particularly in cooler weather or when exposed to stress. The foliage colour changes subtly throughout the year, adding dynamic interest to your garden. In summer, Jovibarba sobolifera produces yellow, actinomorphic flowers atop short stems, reaching a height of approximately 10 cm when in bloom. The flowers attract pollinators, making this plant a valuable addition for bee-friendly landscapes.

Unique among its relatives, Jovibarba sobolifera is known as a "roller." Its offsets, or "chicks," are only loosely attached to the mother rosette and easily roll away to establish new plants nearby. While monocarpic (the main rosette dies after flowering), it continuously renews itself through these offsets, ensuring its longevity in the garden.

Highly drought-tolerant and salt-resistant, Jovibarba sobolifera is a resilient plant that tolerates shallow soils, making it ideal for challenging sites. With minimal care, this low-maintenance succulent brings enduring charm and utility to a variety of garden settings.

Perfect reference guide
Format: Paperback
I bought this book to supplement my lessons with an AMGA guide to learn how to set up toprope climbs. I used it many times to practice and reinforce everything I learned. It is really well written and my favorite book in terms of the knowledge contained within. As common sense would dictate this is not a book to teach your how to toprope...it is a reference to what you have learned?

Essential To Read Before the Class
Format: Paperback
This book provides a good overview of what you'll need to know for your AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) course and assessment. If you plan to take that course this book is a no-brainer. You just have to buy it and read it. There are a few shortcomings: * The photos of how to tie the knots skip a lot and it is impossible to learn the knots from the book. * The photos of what not to do should be clearly labeled with a red cross bar or WRONG overlay on the photo. If you flip causally through the book and look at the photos some very wrong stuff is there and you have to read the text to know that it is not recommended. * The religious debate on anchor systems rages on. Should you set up a Joshua Tree System with Tether or a Backside System? I realize the AMGA doesn't want to pick sides and will say either is acceptable, but the book doesn't even try to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various anchor systems.
